Made from a single plank of Hormigo Rojo (aka Macacauba, macawood) with 1/2″ x 1″ strips arranged long-grain for the pressing surfaces. Rabbeted a piece to the top/back with the tablesaw and glued in place.

Stainless steel hinges provide pivot point, handle secured and hinged with a brass rod drifted through the press handle support rungs, plugs of scrap macawood glued in for seamlessness. Handle support rungs arranged in a simple, hybrid, end-interlock joint, tapped and screwed into two faces with 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws into bottom pressing face and face joinery block, holes plugged with scrap macawood.

Finished with an MCT oil soak, and buffed with our board balm.
