Bunny and Toni had a pile of reclaimed Redwood lumber from an old water tower stacked in their garage that they for years intended to make into a new mantel for the existing fireplace in their home. The lumber was 2.5″ thick by about 8″ wide, so they knew they needed some help to get it done since the fireplace brick was much wider, or, deeper off the wall.

I met them at their house and they were prepared with a detailed vision of the new mantel and had several drawings at the ready for me. A few answered questions later, I had the saws in the garage and was ripping and cutting to dimension. I glued two pieces together and pocket hole screwed them together on the underside of each piece and used biscuits to maintain center. Ran the new big planks through the drum sander and sanded to 220 before cutting to final dimension and installing. They were stunned and excited with the results, finished in 3 days!
